Cranbrook BC, February 2, 2015.  The Board of Directors of the Cranbrook Archives, Museum and Landmark Foundation is pleased to announce the renaming of the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel to the Cranbrook History Centre. Earlier in the year, the Board hired Genex Marketing to conduct a survey of the community to determine what they wanted at the museum site.  The results of survey revealed the community desired a Cranbrook museum. The Board then engaged Chris Botterill of Genex Marketing on a rebranding strategy and the Cranbrook History Centre was born.

The Cranbrook History Center will encompass:

  • Canadian Museum of Rail Travel
  • Royal Alexandra Hall
  • Cranbrook Museum (opening Spring 2015)
  • Gift Shop
  • Cranbrook Archives
  • Exhibition Galleries

Board Chair Tom Kirk mentioned, “The Museum belongs to the residents of Cranbrook” and believes the change in name and direction will better serve the community of Cranbrook. The museum aims to serve the community through locally focused exhibitions, programs, and events. Its goal is to share and engage in Cranbrook’s rich history with the community who live here.
