Ordering Photographs

  • Photographs must be ordered from the Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History (CBIRH) website.
  • Photos may be searched for by key terms using the search bar on the CBIRH website.
  • Physical copies can be ordered directly on the CBIRH website with options for glossy/matte, 5×7 or 8×10, and cropping requirements.
  • Digital copies of photos must be ordered over the phone with CBIRH. Their toll-free number is 1-844-550-9150. Their local number is 250-489-9150.

Condition of Sale and Use of Photographic Prints

The prints ordered are solely for research and private study. To use these prints for any other purpose you must contact the Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History and request permission.

The user may not reproduce or permit others to reproduce the photographic copy or any facsimile of it. Additional copies must be purchased from the Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History.

The Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History acts, through the Columbia Basin Image Bank, as agent for a number of institutional and private partners and does not itself own any photographic images.

All responsibility for possible copyright infringement and invasion of privacy arising from use of reproductions is assumed by the user

Digital File Agreement

The Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History agrees to provide the applicant with digital file copies of images from the electronic databases of the Columbia Basin Image Bank or from the Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History.

These files will be provided on the following terms:

The Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History retains all rights to the supplied files. The applicant agrees that neither the downloaded files nor any copies, either physical or electronic, will be sold, distributed, shared, loaned, exchanged, traded, transferred, transmitted, rented, leased, deposited, or given to any other individual, company or organization, for any reason whatsoever. Any copies created by the applicant, either physical or electronic, must be destroyed at the conclusion of the project.

The applicant understands that acquiring these files is for the use as per the applicant’s stated purpose [i.e. personal research] and will not be used for any other project without permission.

All responsibility for copyright infringement and invasion of privacy arising from use of reproductions is assumed by the user.

All files used for publication or display must credit the Columbia Basin Image Bank and the Cranbrook History Centre.

Watermarks

All images on the Columbia Basin Institute’s website are watermarked. Purchased photos have the watermark removed. The images have a watermark on them to prevent the reproduction or theft of the images without the permission of the Institute and Partners. All of the photographs on the Institute’s website are the property of the Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History and the partnering museum or society.
