Ed Talk: FireSmart & the Science of Wildfire
With Carla Hayday
Are you ready to rethink wildfire?
Join Carla Hayday for an eye-opening ED Talk exploring how FireSmart principles are grounded in the real science of wildfire ecology – and why they matter more than ever for the Regional District of East Kootenay.
From ember transfer and fire spread to historic fire regimes and the wildland urban interface, Carla breaks down the complex dynamics shaping wildfire behavior in our region – and what it means for your home, your land, and your future.
This talk is essential for anyone living in wildfire-prone areas who wants to move from worry to resilience.
The evening will conclude with a Q&A.
Doors open at 6:30 PM, and tea and coffee will be served.
