CHC’s Deaccessioned Railcars – Invitation to Submit Expressions of Interest

CHC’s Deaccessioned Railcars – Invitation to Submit Expressions of Interest

The Cranbrook History Centre (CHC) has completed the process of deaccessioning 9 railcars determined to be historically significant but beyond the resources of the Centre to maintain or restore. The CHC therefore invites interested parties to submit a formal expression of interest for the purchase of any, or all, of the historic railcars listed in the CHC Submission Guidelines and Deaccessioned Rail Equipment document.

The CHC will begin accepting expression of interest submissions on September 18, 2020. All submissions must be received by December 31, 2020. Once your submission is received, the CHC deaccessioning committee will evaluate your submission using merit-based evaluation criteria outlined in the guidelines based on the CHC’s Deaccessioning Policy. The guidelines do not set restrictions or conditions (other than conditions of purchase) on any item after it has left the CHC’s collection but it is our preference that each historically significant railcar will go to the most appropriate location.

All revenue from the sale of the deaccessioned railcars will be used for the continued restoration and preservation of the Historic Railcar Collection at the Cranbrook History Centre.

Please submit applications to: Bob Whetham, Board Chair and Honor Neve, Chief Curator: board@cranbrookhistorycentre.com by December 31, 2020.
